Comments
Comments: Suzanne and I barebooted to the start of the Signal Ridge Trail. Used microspikes from there to past the where the Carrigain Notch Trail splits from theSignal Ridge Trail. Went to snowhoes on the Carrigan Notch Trail. Followed Steve and Bryan's tracks up the trail to the bushwhack they broke out. On the ridge, we passed two beech trees with very noticeable bear claw marks. At the tallus field, they went left at the top of the tallus field. We opted to go right hoping to find a less steep route to the summit. After a false start where we ran into the cliff band and had to lose a bit of elevation, we moved even further to right (East). In this area, we saw several Boreal Chickadees and one Black-capped Chickadee. We followed a fold up to where it ended near a small knoll on the left. We climbed the knoll then went southwest into a small dip and climbed a short distance up to the summit of Vose Spur. The snow was powdery and still fairly deep. This route was not thick and not steep and we were glad to have taken it. On the way back out, we heard a barred owl after we got back on Signal Ridge Trail but did not get to see it. We had another good day in the woods.
