| Comments: |
up to dianas baths the trail was hard packed and becoming icy. beyond it gradually saw less travel and began to soften up a bit. once on the ascent north moat it became more choppy and softened significantly with elevation. from about the halfway point to the summit it was broken, but not packed out. crusty with some exposed rock right at the top.
i put on snowshoes shortly after the red ridge junction and wore them to the summit and back. light traction could be useful before that.
nice day on north moat. clouds came in pretty early, but stayed high so the views from the summit were fantastic. great hiking temperatures with just a bit of a cold breeze on the summit. great to be out.
