Comments
Comments: I had tried the ascent last Friday but tore a climbing skin (at 2.8 Mile Mark). Back yesterday with a fresh setup, I climbed past my turn around spot and made it to the summit. The first 1.3 miles is well packed. Most Smart Brook visitors don't wear snowshoes but most also don't go beyond the basic loops. From the Wilderness sign, up thru the boulders there is probably a foot of new snow. From the 4 mile sign up to the saddle there was probably 16 inches. The is a great drift at the summit affording the best views I have ever had from Sandwich. 3 on snowshoes followed me up the trail
