We hiked Roberts’s right after a snow storm hit the area (we had already planned the hike, so we just stuck with it). Even with the weather not being entirely friendly; the temps hung in the high 40s and low 50s making it bearable. As the day progressed the weather got better and clearer until at the summit we could actually see patches of blue skies here and there. Robert’s hike is full of false peaks making it a bit of a let down on a bad weather day when the mood is already touch and go. A good signal if one is not familiar with the layout of this particular peak is to follow the orange blazes until you come to blue blazes, which take you onto Faraway Mt. We did not bother with Faraway but I recommend it when the weather is good. Views of Ossipee were good even with the clouds and haze of a cold day but I would recommend this hike on a drier day as I did take a nasty fall on some wet rocks. Still have the bruise a week later…ouch! |
