| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Maggaloway and Smith Brook roads are gated after the bridge about a mile in. There is a large parking lot. The roads higher up have erosion and culvert issues that will need repair before they are reopened. When the gates are open it would be possible to drive up to the col between Stub and North Stub. |

I missed the gate being open by a week. This made for a long boring trip up to the col between the peaks. From the height of land I strapped on snowshoes and headed up the herd path/snowmobile trail. This heads right up to Stub Pond. From there it is a short bushwack through open woods to the summit. Was tempted to cross the street and do North Stub as well, but daylight was limited due to my late start. On the long way back out I saw numerous hares and a couple of moose. Longest drive yet for the NHHH with the easiest bushwack. |
