Water Crossing Notes: Rock steps

Trail Maintenance Notes: I should have taken some notes; I faintly recall a blowdown or two. There were occasional spots of mud under water under leaves. All signs were in place. Doublehead trail was easy to follow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Pepper had fun. There were plenty of sip n dips and the freedom of the the trails.
Bugs
Bugs: Black flies hovered around me at the parking, start and finish, but were no problem on the trail.

Comments
Comments: Snow free trails. We got there after the heavy downpours and so it's not surprising there was water on the trail but it wasn't bad. The ledges were slippery. Although the views at different places were still limited by clouds, the one overlooking Squam Lake from the ledges below East Doublehead was just superb, with clouds hugging the low peaks on the east, and blue sky with billowing white cumulus to the west, and the pastels of new foliage in the woods. Too bad I forgot my camera. This was a very pleasant stroll in the park; perfect for today. We didn't see another soul. Thanks Pepper.
