Went up Middle Sister Trail. First couple miles are a splendid walk in the woods. Trail easy to follow, faded blazes and a worn footbed. Didn't see a sole until reaching intersection with Carter Ledge Trail. Went up to Third Sister, at least a dozen people hanging out. Decided to descend carefully down Carter Ledge Trail, yah I have been up it before and it is steep but it is a lovely Trail. Took my time, the Jack Pines had cones still attached and their delicate needles are pretty. The last two miles after Nickerson Ledge are soft on the feet, bet it doesn't get much use. |
