Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Monday, May 26, 2014
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked in Mountain Rd lot. No one else when we got there at 7:15 AM. When we returned at about 2 PM the lot was nearly full.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Only very minor crossings.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in very good condition with evidence of freshly painted blazes and recently cleared blowdowns.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few Labs of various colors. Fairly well-behaved.
Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitoes and black flies in the parking lot in the morning. Black flies and no-see-ums on the trail. DEETed up and kept moving so they weren't bad. Black flies in parking lot at end of hike. They were mostly an annoyance and did little or no biting. Several made the 60 mile ride back home in the car and will likely improve the MA gene pool.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Notices posted trailside of someone losing a necklace and offering a reward, but we found nothing and (I hope) didn't lose anything.

Comments
Comments: Nice hike over the two Packs with Snapsquatch. We returned over the Cliff Trail, nice views although somewhat limited by cloudy conditions. Sun in and out most of the day. Not a lot of people on the trail, for a holiday. Maybe the threat of rain kept people home. Only a few sprinkles however.
