Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A number on Slippery Brook but all small and easily done on rocks
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Slippery Brook - a number of older blowdowns along the trail, about 1/4 mile in a large 18 inch trunk across the trail with a little side path around, further in an 10 inch easy stepover and then a larger 18 inch about knee to thigh height a couple miles in. One blowdown patch which has been cleared off the trail but a walkunder that will eventually come down across the trail, went a way past the upper junction and came across two smaller blowdowns first one about 100 yards from the junction and the next about 100 yards further.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A great hike for the canines plenty of water to drink and/or splash in along the trail to about .5 miles below junction with Eastman mountain trail. Met one canine coming down today.
Bugs
Bugs: Out in force along the trails and at the summit, bug spray was a must today and still came away with numerous bites - black flies, mosquitos and the more traditional house flies.

Comments
Comments: Glad I opted to head up to Evans Notch - skies were clear and temps perfect for hiking. Baldface circle trail to slippery brook junction in great shape. Slippery brook trail varied between dry trail, wet trail, and mud - then repeat all the way to the top. Some mud can be bypassed other stretches you'll need to just plow through - but nothing too deep. Eastman trail is also in fine shape. Nice views up top - spent 45 minutes enjoying the views and sun with the bugs today. Saw only 4 others all day on the trails.
