Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: THANK YOU Trail Tenders! The trails were all clear and wonderful! I was sure I was going to run into the ax wielding crew--all water bars cleared and only a few blow downs that were easily stepped over. I can only imagine how much work it was to get that trail in shape seeing all the chips from removing blow downs! I thought the trail was easy to follow, some blue blazes just when you need them remain and a few small cairns by the ledge were much more than I expected for a trail stuck in a Wilderness Area.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I would have liked to have a dog to keep me company today.
Bugs
Bugs: Lots of them, wore two coatings of Deep Woods Off. Black flies and Mosquitoes--ugh.

Comments
Comments: After reading a report here dated 6/2 I was worried about the trail being tough but a great deal of trail maintenance has been done recently. The bushwhack to the true summit was rugged and I had so many spruce needles in my hair I smelled like a Christmas tree.
I didn't see a soul all day. I saw one silly Turkey just after crossing Whitin Brook and dozens of toads.
Beautiful day to hike and the grand views from Paugus' ledges are worth the effort.
