Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings on the Shoal Pond Trail were rock hops. Crossing on Signal Ridge Trail was somewhat difficult to keep your boots dry
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Shoal Pond Trail wasn't as bad as I expected, but it was still pretty bad. Long stretches of rotting bog bridges, deep mud, standing water and very overgrown sections requiring you to push the tree branches out of your way. In general, the trail was easy to follow and all blowdown (and there was a lot) was the step-over variety. All the other trails were in fine shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: none
Bugs
Bugs: ferocious mosquitoes in the Signal Ridge parking lot and on the lower section of the Signal Ridge Trail.

Comments
Comments: Zealand Road to Sawyer River Road traverse

Shoal Pond Trail is certainly a wild and scenic trail, but it is a little tedious to traverse due to slippery bog bridges, and boot sucking mud.
