Comments: Hmmmmm, this started out as just an exploration - was wondering how far I could drive up the road. Anyway, so, I headed to the ridge from the end of the logging road. From there, I hit every bump northbound. Parts of the ridge were open, other parts had herd paths in various directions - kind of fun.... but, progress was very slow .

*Finally* I got to an "official" summit - NORTHWEST CRYSTAL - what the hey - I really should have studied the topo better - so many things marked "Crystal"!!!! I was actually aiming for Crystal through possibly NW Crystal....

From there I headed almost due south back to my car and tried to slab at an elevation that wasn't so thick - took a couple more hours to get back. However, it was very scenic - lots of open-looking areas with old trees. But, open areas (and there were many!!) had deep grass, slippery rocks, and hidden pools. Came across many moose bedding areas!!!

I beat a hasty retreat but it did take a while: 5 hrs for 8 miles - yikes!!!! That included the 1.2-ish mile roadwalk to the log landing.

I'll be back!!! :) d'oh!!!!!
