Parking/Access Road Notes: Well,,, the AMC map for the area shows what looks like a road up from just past the junction with Bog Dam Road. It looks like the road goes to Deer Mountain. Not true!!!! I parked my car near the gate at that forest road.

Comments
Comments: This was a little more of a hike than I was thinking it would be. Basically, headed up the logging road and startled a bear cub with a momma right nearby!!! Kept going on the easy/wet road until I decided the logging road I was on was heading downhill and so I took a logging road on the left which basically dumped me into a beautiful pine grove. I took the scenic route from that point and occasionally hit upon logging roads but basically just cut up northwest to the ridge. Some nice open ledges on the ridge. Kept thinking I was finding the firetower access road but kept dead-ending.

Some very steep sections. Very cool summit - filled with raspberry bushes and very cool firetower remains!!!! Hazy views into the valleys. From there, I headed southeast back to the car and found some very steep ledges and butt-slid down them.

Fun hike!!!!
