Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Excellent parking lot.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The two main crossings are less than ten minutes from the trail head. Easy rock hop. Several dry beds and a few tiny streams.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Excellent on all accounts! There are a few blow downs, near the Jennings Peak Spur that I nicknamed "sit downs." Nice place to sit for a few moments and not difficult to step over.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a few. All had wise owners who made sure they supplied plenty of water, because once you cross those brooks near the parking lot, that's it!
Bugs
Bugs: No biting ones.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Dropped a tiny bag with peanuts, M&Ms, and raisins. Not looking for it, just apologizing for unintentional litter (and congrats to the lucky critter who finds it!).

Comments
Comments: We ascended the Sandwich Mtn. Trail, went up to Jennings Peak, then on to Sandwich, and down the Drakes Brook. Nice mix; very steep sections followed by flat, gentle ones where you could catch your breath. But it still is a strenuous hike (a few hikers young enough to be my children thought it was a work out). Took us a while to get up. We enjoyed all three peaks - both the views and the warm sun! Drakes Brook is the more gradual of the two, but I was still shocked beyond belief that we made it down in under book time (probably because it was not chock full of boulders like most of the places we go to). This was a great loop I'd highly recommend. The only mucky area was near the bottom of the Drakes Brook Trail.
