Cascade Link trail still has some water running down it so if you miss step don't be surprised to encounter several inches of water/slush. Monadnock got 15-16" of snow. Lots of drifting. White Dot is well packed out but we needed snowshoes for Cascade Link, Red Spot and Pumpelly to just below the summit cone. Expect plenty of snow on less traveled trails. Can be barebooted but expect a tough go of it. Snow has dried out so consolidation is tough and even with shoes it is very bony through the rocky sections. Some ice beneath the snow on the White Dot. Snow has bonded for most part but still surprisingly slick. Light traction was the way to go. |
