Great day for this hike. Very fast packed trail car to Liberty then a somewhat softer foot bed between the peaks. Lots of ice chunks that have come out of the trees. There had been some activity headed up Franconia Ridge towards Haystack but it certainly wasn't packed out. Fairly strong wind at the summits but the rest of the day was calm. Wore only a base layer all day except on Liberty. No views to speak of except from Liberty to Lincoln at times. Didn't see a soul all day except a woodpecker and a few chickadees. |
