Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There are a number of parking spots at the train depot. They are also used by drive by tourists.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud, Standing/Running Water on Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The first crossing is fairly easy. A passage made of stones has been put in place. The second crossing was so shallow I simply walked across it without trying to rock hop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One trail blocking blowdown on the Willey Range trail before Mt. Field. Another trail blocking blowdown on Willey Range trail between Field and Willey. At least three trail blocking blowdowns on the Avalon trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: On a scale of one to five with five the most difficult. I would give this hike two paws, perhaps three paws if you go out to Willey and back--simply for the distance. There are some significant ledges going up to Avalon. Trail wise dogs like Lauky will have no problems. A novice dog might have some.
Bugs
Bugs: The black flies came out around noon. Some were biting. Bug spray advised.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There is a green bandanna on the ground near the Willey cairn.

Comments
Comments: The rocks and roots in places tended to be greasy. I slipped several times. There were also places where the rocks and ledges were wet with running water.
