Started out at 8:20 AM with temps at minus 10. Followed group of six to start but passed them at junction. Temp was minus 15 just before summit and summit was windy out of the north west at 10-20 mph. Very cold and stayed only 5 minutes before heading down Webster Cliff trail to Mt Webster. Immediately needed to change from microspikes to snowshoes and kept snowshoes on the rest of day. Webster Cliff trail was 6-12 inches of unpacked powder and snowshoes almost a must. Great views in blue skies from both peaks but very cold temps. Passed several couples as we headed down at 12:00 and back at parking lot at 1:30. Great winter hike. |
