Comments
Comments: davis path to crawford spur was boot packed and hard. notable ice in some spots once the trail starts to climb. ledges still snow covered. aggressive light traction worked great. was happy to see davis path was broken out beyond crawford and though not packed out and a bit rough it had solidified and made for relatively easy walking in snowshoes. beyond parker junction davis path was less travelled, but a snowshoe track did lead all the way to stairs. a couple icy bulges on the steeps high on stairs. parker trail was nicely packed up to the false summit of resolution. the large sloping ledges it traverses are icy in places, but staying high keeps you on good grippy snow. from the on trail summit i did a short bushwhack to the highpoint. a bit thick to start then it opened up nicely the rest of the way. was generally able to stay up on the snow, but punched through to the upper thigh a few times. well worth it for the unobstructed view to washington and additional views towards the wild river area. once back to the crawford spur i followed the packed track up to the summit encountering only minor ice. some of the ledges around the summit area are very icy, but very much avoidable. i kept snowshoes on for the start of the decent, but soon switched back to light traction to the car.

great day for hiking these peaks. i had only been to resolution once before on a miserable day so it was a real treat to be up there again on such a good one. a really beautiful part of the whites.
