The CBT lot on the Kanc is a thick sheet of ice, but plowed and well sanded. Still, I wouldn't recommend bombing in there. |

| Comments: |
CBT is a frozen packed sidewalk all the way up, as is the loop trail down to the falls. CBT has some icy stretches between the loop junctions, but nothing that can't be walked around. Both falls were gorgeously frozen. The rock staircase at the falls took a little negotiating, as it's encased in thick ice. The Cutoff to Middle Sister was lesser traveled, but broken out, with great views before reaching the ridge. MST was the worst of the bunch, very choppy. I carried snowshoes, but they wouldn't have been of any use on the frozen hardpack. Dropping off First Sister took a little route finding and skirting around thick ice. Great views from both Sisters and I could see someone climbing Chocorua. The mostly sunny forecast once again never materialized, but hey, it's always great to be in this area. I wore Hillsounds all day, but some might prefer crampons, especially if continuing up to Chocorua. |
