Comments
Comments: Snowshoes worn/needed. Lower half of the trail was firm with a couple inches of crusty new snow on top that had been traveled by barebooters. The second steeper half of the trail was untraveled this week and the new snow plus drifting often hid the old track. This south facing trail was warming up making the trail breaking a bit tiring. Note: there are no blazes in the open section, so it can take a little care to navigate (and is probably why there is no single obvious trench). Lots of barebooters coming up as I was coming down and it made a real mess (foot plus deep postholes everywhere) that will be an issue as this freezes up at night.

Blue skies in the morning, and never snowed or clouded over this far southeast. This peak has some of the best views in the whites, got to watch the peaks to the west get snow showers. Friendly people to chat with at the summit. Great day to enjoy sitting up there and soaking it all in.
