This was a great short hike on a perfect day. 52 WAV, and the views were nice! Barebooted the 1 mi. out and back from car to trailhead. We saw 2 town pickups on Zealand Road, it was that hard packed. Cool enough in the morning to use microspikes for the climb. Trail was broken out nicely. Switched to snowshoes at the junction climbing to N. Sugarloaf as it was warming up and snow was becoming softer and stickier. We stayed with snowshoes back to Zealand Road. This 3.2 mi. loop took just 2.5 hrs. 3.5 car-to-car. This hike provides a Big Bang for minimal effort. |
