Comments
Comments: I took the Wapack trail up and over South Pack and bare booted until maybe a half mile below the summit when intermittent patches of melting ice became more frequent so on went the Micorspikes. The summit area is bare but then the north slope of South Pack was also pretty icy making Spikes a good choice there. The col can be bare booted and the Cliff Trail is nearly snow and ice free. I also wore spikes for a short period on descent from North Pack on the Wapack Trail. The Marion Davis Trail is pretty much snow and ice free.

The natural progression after melting ice is lots of running water, mud and slippery leaves so some attention might be needed. In addition I found a couple patches of 'hidden ice' underneath pine needles and dirt.

Until heading out on the Marion Davis Trail I didn't see anyone else on the trails all day. Nobody on South Pack in the AM, two folks on North Pack and few people on South Pack on my way back. Nice morning in the sun until the clouds came in the early afternoon. Overall a pretty nice day wandering the Wapack range.
