Comments
Comments: Bluebird day with hundreds of peaks in sight. The Webster ascent was tough - 2/4 of us punched through the snow bridge at the bottom of the col on the Webster branch trail with raging waters beneath. Not sure how folks will cross that one in the remaining weeks. Postholed galore on ascent even with snowshoes. Route finding near the top was dicey and not much easier on the Webster Clifff Trail where the white blazes were at our knees due to the high snow pack. We were getting whacked in the face by spruce branches all day. Slow going up there.

Jackson had wide open ledges and we probably should have removed our snowshoes on the bare rock but didn't. Jackson branch was more consolidated on descent though you still had to stay carefully in the middle of the monorail, and the sunshine was turning the steeps into icy flows.

But the glorious views from both peaks made up for the slog. Stunning views of the Northern presi's and the Pemi peak. Fuel for the journey.
