This was a hike just to get out and because of a later commitment we only went to Starr King. 2" of snow in parking lot. Bare booted part way up trail then switched to snow shoes as snow got deeper and rocks were well covered. There was enough snow that the only evidence of trail other than the blazes and path through the trees were the old very deep postholes that didn't get totally filled in with new snow. Snow up to 5" deep in places and on Starr King. The trees were heavily covered and it looked like winter. There was quite a bit of snow under the new snow by the time you reached the soft woods. On a tree someone stuck the numbers 68. Does anyone know what that is? |
