Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All easy today despite recent warm temps
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Carter Ledge Trail in great shape! The upper part of Champney Falls has a TON of blow downs/broken trees/downed limbs I'm guessing from the heavy snow/ice we had in the beginning of winter. Lots of blow downs on the Champney cut off as well. Middle Sister had a couple of blow downs and lots of standing water in many places.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any today
Bugs
Bugs: Yes, they are out. But none biting yet...

Comments
Comments: Carter Ledge was a piece of cake. Some running water here and there and some soft rotting snow but the ledges were dry and easy. The monorail from the Piper junction up to the summit was hard as a rock still, much to our surprise since it was hot today. We post holed our way through the cut off for the redline. Going down Middle Sister was a bit brutal, we postholed quite a bit through hard crusty snow into soft snow and mud. Lots of standing and running water. Once back down it was like fall again with all the leaves we were shuffling through. We could tell Middle Sister is a lightly used trail. Beautiful Monday to be out and we even had the summit to ourselves the whole time we were up there! A rarity on this peak! Thanks Ashley for a great day out, red lining season is here!!
