All water crossings were running under snow. Good luck not punching through. |

Baron had to be lifted up several sections of the Black Mountain Pond trail above the pond. Seasoned dogs and handlers only should attempt that section. |

Don't. Just don't. Snowshoes probably would have helped a bit but things are so soft up there you're better off waiting until it's gone. It was a hellish day of postholing in shorts. Luckily the moose also use these trails or I'd still be up there. No evidence of any people having been on any of these trails all winter. Still 2-5 feet of gross, rotten spring snow above 2500 feet. |
