At the trailhead someone left a pair of boots and yak tracs. |

No snow until 3000 feet. That was a surprise.
On the side hill it started with some ice (we put on Hillsounds), then a small unstable monorail. From the top of Starr King there is still plenty of snow and snowshoes made it much easier, though we met hikers going up without any as we were coming down. The snow got VERY soft on our way out. |
