Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Wild River Road in good shape. My vehicle was the only one at Wild River/Basin trailhead.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The main crossing of Wild River (above the former Spider Bridge) was accomplished by knee deep wading, with slippery rocks under the surface. Spruce Brook and Cypress Brook were accomplished in a similar fashion. The Wild River crossings on Eagle Link were rock hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many downed trees along the entire loop, most of the crown of the tree down in or along the trail. This was particularly prevalent on Eagle Link, but was present on all the trails to some extent. Meader Ridge was very pleasant since my last trip two years ago involved a lot of blowdown acrobatics. With the exception of the trees, all trails in great (if not somewhat muddy) shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: I heard one buzz my ear just after getting on the rail grade on Wild River Trail, but the wind and the chill kept them away the rest of the day.

Comments
Comments: An excellent loop in and around the Wild River Wilderness. The crossings were tough, but it's to be expected in this area. Quite blustery and downright cold once on the ridge, clouds capping the Carters and Presidentials to the west, and it spit rain drops on my at several points early on. Now all that remains in the Carter/Baldface tab is the southern end of Shelburne Trail, and a part of Hutmen's I missed when I did it last year. Onward and upward!
