Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: mostly dry or near dry on the west side. one crossing of sucker brook on the east side was rock hoppable
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The corridor on the west side of the Mt Carr trail was a bit overgrown near the start. There were many blowdowns especially the last 1/2 mile which made it difficult to follow the trail. Do not do this side if you are a novice hiker. There are few (any??) trail blazes on the west side. The east side is in much better shape. There were 12 blowdowns which were all step over except one which has developed a herd path around it. it is very well blazed but some blazes are yellow and some are blue!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: none
Bugs
Bugs: not many on the way up. none on the summit as there was a brisk breeze. a few more on the way done.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: there is a tan baseball cap at the 3 ponds kiosk.

Comments
Comments: I was dropped at the west side trailhead and hiked over to the east side and had a road walk back home. Most of the Mt Carr trail is in good shape except for the top 0.5 mile of the west side. Many, many blowdowns which obscured the trail quite a bit and with no blazes it could be very difficult to follow. I was ok because i have hiked this many times before. I saw only one other hiker at the summit. It was a great day.
