| Comments: |
Summit Trail climbs through beautiful old forest and into the spruce zone shortly below the summit. It was built by volunteers in 1997 specifically so hikers and skiers need not share trails. If the Governor and Council approve, Mt Sunapee Resort will build several new ski trails and a new chairlift in the West Bowl.
The new trails will cross Summit Trail in at least five places, making for medically interesting collisions with skiers.
We can send comments saying "I oppose the West Bowl expansion for Mount Sunapee Resort" to MountSunapeeComments@dred.nh.gov by June 5.
More details are in a thread on viewsfromthetop.com in the New England forum called "Save Summit Trail before June 5." Full background is on the website for Friends of Mount Sunapee: friendsofmountsunapee.org.
Thank you for caring for the trails. |
