Comments
Comments: Left Mizpah hut around 8am in a fine mist and low clouds, some of which appeared to be lifting as we reached Mt. Webster. We had about 6 miles to hike back to US-302 to our car at the AT trailhead. The hike up to Jackson was very slippery on the steep sections just above / below the summit. About 3 miles into the hike, conditions got much worse. Heavy rain and wind moved through, pelting us heavily on the cliffs above Crawford Notch. Better rain gear would have helped me, and we took it slow as the rock was very slick. We finished the hike around 1:00. After several days of rain, I'm thinking the trail will continue to be muddy and wet after the rain ends.
