Comments
Comments: from the parking i headed in the woods to pick up the ridge running north from east weetamoo. going was open hardwoods to start then a mix of mature spruce up a steep slope. worth noting the 40ft countours on the usgs don't tell the whole story with regards to some of the steep pitches on this route. from there woods were mixed, but never thick and often void of too much undergrowth to the sub peak to the nw of the main peak. a few swamps to skirt along the way. i pretty much stuck to crown of the ridge with minor deviation when necessary. getting over to the true summit of east was more interesting with thicker spruce and blowdown along the way though it was short lived and really not a big deal. there are a few bumps around the summit area one of which is recognize as the highpoint. i took a more direct line back to the ridge north of the sub peak rather than going back over it with mixed results then followed the ridge back down.

this was a bit of an unfinished business hike after having to turn back at the main peak of weetamoo due to snow conditions in the spring. i had been stuck on going up from the south, but after seeing zachs recent report (thanks, zach) from the north i gave it a shot. a very interesting route with good woods and some limited views in a few spots. was pretty hot and sweaty today, but still the most enjoyable off trail hike i have been on in a while. found a nice little deer shed along the way. lots of moose sign up high.
