Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I gave up and just waded through the water without trying to stay dry after the third or fourth crossing. Max (border terrier) had trouble with one of the first crossings (going counter-clockwise around the loop). I had to reel him in on his leash or else he would have gone over a little waterfall and possibly had a negative outcome.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The part of the loop going from the road to the pond, counter-clockwise, is very overgrown -- still easy to follow if you keep your eyes open, though. When in doubt, look for signs...there are a few arrows strategically placed here and there.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Tons of water everywhere for dogs. Be careful on the crossings, though. Many of the crossings have little mini-waterfalls that could knock a dog (or a person) out if the canine (or human) fell and went into them head first. Max almost went down...he slipped on a rock after a jump and fell into the water. The (retractable) leash is the only thing that kept him from going straight into a fast and submerged fall. I was able to reel him in before he went under and down. My dog is very agile and doesn't usually have issues.
Bugs
Bugs: Only three, miraculously.

Comments
Comments: I was looking for something away from the holiday crowds, and this fit the bill. Saw only four other hikers and two other dogs. Everyone looked happy. Great weather, nice (albeit wet and muddy) hike. The road walk from Jose's Bridge to the parking lot off Whiteface-Intervale Road is pretty...lots of wildflowers and farm houses.
