Peaks
Peaks Mt. Jackson, Mt. Webster, NH
Trails
Trails: Webster-Jackson Trail, Webster Cliff Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, July 3, 2015
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Highland Center/ Depot were packed, still managed to find space. Unrelated, but driving back through Franconia notch, we must have seen 50+ cars parked as overflow on the shoulder of 93 for both Lafayette campground (heading up to lonesome) and at the trailhead for Falling Waters. I can only imagine what those trails looked like mid-day.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: a decent number of small water crossings throughout the loop. Easily hopped over all.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: trail was a beauty. Plenty of mud pits, mud, running water, and standing water. Sloshed through it all with my mid height hiking boots, but some mud did manage to sneak its way over the top. Water provided for some tricky spots traction-wise, especially leaving Jackson summit.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: couple dogs, labs and spaniels.
Bugs
Bugs: none really. 15mph winds up top kept them down.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a mitten shell on the Webster cliff tr - dark green. Left it where I saw it.

Comments
Comments: I had been wanting to do this loop on repeat since 2011. First trip took us 4 hr 50 min, second time we did it in 5 hr 10 min. Took some time on the summit and stuck around Webster-Cliff Tr junction with Webster-Jackson since we heard rumors that the dude setting the AT speed record was slated to run through that day. No luck.
