|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
none |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The Coot Trail is short and not too steep for anyone who is reasonably fit. It’s eroded in places and a muddy mess at the beginning of the trail, but I was on the summit in under 30 minutes |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Easy hike for 4-footed friends. There is a rain barrel outside the cabin if your dog needs water. Not for human consumption. There is also a spring located down the hill on a narrow path next to the outdoor log pile. There are pink trail ribbons leading you down. |
|
| Bugs: |
No bugs on the trail today. |

| Lost and Found: |
none |

There are three viewing areas. Most people only know about the tower views. You are missing out if you don’t check out the other two. The Overlook Trail is a short walk to some unexpected ledgy views. The other viewpoint is right outside the cabin. Walk past the fire pit and there is a beautiful place to sit and watch the sunrise come up over the mountains.
You can rent the Watchman's Cabin at the top, http://www.nhdfl.org/fire-control-and-law-enforcement/cabin-rental.aspx. Just be aware that you can only use the top portion of the wood stove (for cooking), the rest of the over (the part that would keep you warm at night) is closed off. I recommend bringing a sleeping bag even in July. |
