Comments: this peak is also referred to in some places as litte mt. major and is the 1,117' peak north of mt. major.

i started up mt. major trail and followed it to where it starts to level out then turned and bushwhacked on a direct line towards little pine mountain. woods were open hardwoods with many large erratics. pretty quickly i stumbled onto a herd path that continued to the summit with some small rock cairns in places. though ledgy the summit has no views, but just a short distance southeast there is a very nice view across winnipesaukee to the moose mountains and merrymeeting lake peaks. on the way down i stuck to the herd path which eventually melted into an old woods road just past a memorial plaque. the road was vague though it did lead back to the major trail a few minutes in from the parking lot. would not be obvious to spot from the trail without knowing where it is. where the major trail splits for a short distance the herd path leaves right just before the two branches of the trail rejoin.
