Comments
Comments: Finally got Smarts Mountain under my belt, but I should have taken the Lambert Ridge Trail, as it's more scenic and in much better shape (it's a part of the AT). Don't need to hike it to know that. I don't know what Dan Doan would think of this trail if he was alive to see what it looks like now, but IMHO it doesn't live up to his legacy. Eroded, rough, and overgrown are the three words that describe it best. Fortunately, the summit was nice, and I chatted with some kind thru-hikers (including one from Germany), so that made the hike a lot better. The very upper part of DDT wasn't too bad either, come to think of it.

If anything, I got a few extra red-line miles.
