Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Trailhead is a HUGE pullout on the Kearsarge Valley Road .4 mi from golf course, and .4 mi from North Rd (so, halfway between them). My GPS, however, said I was on Wilmot Rd rather than Kearsarge Valley Rd. Just a note - when you turn onto "Wilmot Rd" or Kearsarge Valley Rd, you are halfway between North Rd and the golf course. Leaves had totally obscured the tiny trail sign at the back of the parking area, so, I looked for paths into the woods - it's roughly the middle of the lot.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues though the muddy sections required balancing on semi-submerged logs which were not terribly stable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Other than a couple of drainage issues and a couple of blow-downs you could walk under, the Lincoln Trail is terrific!!!!! You do need to pay attention to trapezoid blazes at logging road intersections, however.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: no issues - I killed a few horse flies

Comments
Comments: Excellent hike up this LONG approach to Mt Kearsarge - nearly 5 miles one way with 2,000 feet of elevation gain, though it is gentle!!!! This is the Sunapee-Ragged-Kearsarge Greenway. There are many elements to this trail which are fabulous - wonderful glacial erratics, beautiful woods, and, stunning outlooks. The top section above the Rollins parking lot is rugged and has wide open views with few hikers. For the descent of the top section, I chose the Rollins Trail as an alternative to the rough footing of the Lincoln Trail.

Awesome views from firetower, changeable weather (hail!!!) and tourists on top. Super-fun!!!!!
