Comments
Comments: we headed up the ski trails which were frosty in the morning, but well maintained and well mowed which made for nice, if steep, walking. at the top of the trails we briefly followed a woods road into the woods then started our bushwhack finding mostly open woods with some areas of low growth hardwood. most of the foliage is down though many beech trees are holding on still. we trended southeast towards the ledges/cliffs hoping to find some views, but didn't find anything safely accessible on the way in. shortly we were at the recognized highpoint in a good sized clearing. we continued southeast along the ridge finding a couple small rises with good views towards moose mountain, southern vt, corbin park area, sunappee, kearsarge, cardigan, etc. some very pretty open hardwood forest dropping down to the col with sugar hill. some tighter, but still open woods in the col and up to the north peak of sugar hill, which has nice views to smarts, carr, stinson and some southern 4k peaks. good going to the col with the south peak where we found a fresh property boundary and old woods road. we followed the road to just below the peak then headed to the summit picking up the property line again where it ran right over the summit area. there are a couple small bumps to choose from for the highpoint one of which is recognized. we doubled back along roughly the same route this time searching more along the winslow cliffs and found a nice accessible point with a great view to holts ledge across the way.
