Trails: Deer Mountain Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, November 15, 2015
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: to reach the trail we drove in from rt 3 in pittsburg on the road just before deer mountain campground. after a couple minutes we followed a blue blazed road left to the trailhead and register and parked just beyond in an old log landing. the road was covered in packed snow and crusty ice. some deep water filled potholes along the way as well. higher clearance and all wheel drive not a bad idea at this point if driving in.

Comments
Comments: the trail was covered in up to an inch of fresh wet snow. no ice noted underneath. the trail is well marked either with blue wooden blazes or flagging. some wet boggy spots up on the ridge before the final climb to the summit and still standing tower frame. interesting woods, a nice pond and some icy cascades enroute.
