Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Coming from Rte 149 to Hedgehog Mountain Road I drove up a good gravel road to a nice new wonderful parking area with a blank kiosk, but I drove past it in my high clearance rig about a 1/10th of a mile to the big sign near the trailhead that reads Hedgehog Mountain Forest SPNHF and the small old parking area.

Comments: Hedgehog Hill (Deering, NH)

Thank you Rocket21 for the recommendation to visit this nearby to me peak, a short lovely hike with a big bang vista. Just before reaching the summit there is a trail marked with a sign that reads Hedgehog Ridge Trail. We followed this trail up and down the ridge's bumps maybe a mile and at the last bump we traveled we remarked how the footbed was not worn at all, we followed blazes to the End of Trail Sign (total distance from car and Hedgehog North Peak visit to here was just 2.1 miles). Great trail with some nice ledgy views. Here we were far away from our car beneath a large rocky bump and a forest road. We decided to follow the forest road thinking if it strayed far we'd bushwhack to the ridge. A minute down the old road we noticed flagging and I am certain it must be the future ridge trail continuing. The woods road was fun and a gentle grade and we just kept turning north and we ended up back at the car (return was only 1.5 miles). Conflicting No Trespassing for any reason and Hikers Welcome signs are hung here and the hikers welcome one is old--I guess this is to keep people to go up the hiking trail.
