Trails: Carr Mountain Trail, Waternomee Falls Spur

Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: This is from the Warren side. Plenty of parking in the Carr Mountain trailhead lot - nobody in the lot. I believe it is usually plowed in winter but there was no issue with snow yet. I always find the trailhead parking a little obscure. Basically, drive to the Fish Hatchery and follow the road past it, then take a left onto Clifford Brook Road past several houses to the trailhead lot on the right. No fees.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Had to be a little careful crossing the fork of Clifford Brook
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One larger blowdown at about 2800' - established herd path. Nice trail work with blowdown removal all the way up. Still, quite brushy around 3000'. I noticed there is flagging periodically in the upper half of the trail corridor. The trail to Waternomee Falls is a little obscure past the first fork - do people stop there and think those cascades are the falls???? Anyway, further past that fork, there is some flagging (THANKS!!!) otherwise the trail is not very obvious. On this spur there is a very large blowdown.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: plenty of water all the way up - streams had good running water

Comments
Comments: Excellent post-lunch workout!!! Nice squalls! I was scoping out the trail (yet again) prior to winter snows to decide if the skiing/riding would be fun on this trail since it is the old road to the summit. It really does look terrific for a backcountry adventure!!! Bring on winter!!! :)

Just a note: there are some slippery ice floes the last 500 or so vertical feet from the summit. I carried very light traction but did not use it. You don't really need it but any more ice and you would.
