Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Both Lucy Brook crossings were running high- shimmied across a fallen tree for the crossing on the Moat Mountain Trail, and waded through 6-12" of water for the crossing at the beginning of the Red Ridge Trail. Thankfully the trail runners dried out quickly!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Moat Mountain Trail in great shape, though can be a bit tricky to follow descending north from the Middle and North Moat summits. Few minor blowdowns. Lower 1/4 mile or so of the Red Ridge Trail was actually a stream, poorly disguised as a trail. Dry and well-marked above that point!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: None, even though it felt like spring.

Comments
Comments: Scenic traverse of the Moat Mountain Trail from south to north, coming back via the Red Ridge Trail. Panoramic views from all 3 Moat summits, plus the ascent up Red Ridge. Couple tiny patches of ice on north-facing ledges were the only evidence that it was supposed to be winter. Traction not needed or helpful, though the open rock slabs descending North Moat were wet and very slippery in places. Water crossings were running high, and the trails had running water in spots (descending North Moat to the north, and the lower 1/4 mile of the Red Ridge Trail)- though not as bad as expected.
