Comments
Comments: Mt Cardigan ski trails today:
Excellent afternoon splitboarding the Alexandria and Kimball Ski trails. Tiring trail breaking on Holt-Clark Cutoff up to the drop-in at the top of the Alexandria Ski Trail - almost no evident trough up the trail. Unfortunately, hikers had punched up the top of the Alexandria Ski Trail - there is no sign saying "NO HIKING" at the top but there should be!!!!! Made the trail really rough to ride.

Alexandria Ski Trail was REALLY challenging due to REALLY deep snow. Far deeper than I expected. Had difficulty with flotation of the board and submarining on the turns - had a few ass-over-teakettle tomahawks but also wore a helmet :). I really don't like pow that deep unless I have a really big board, which I don't. Anyway, I did manage some turns.

From there, I headed back down via the Kimball Ski Trail. I never realized there is an old logging/ski trail at that same junction and I accidentally took it because I thought it was the trail. Maybe it's the old trail? Anyway, had to skin my way back up that and then take the correct Kimball Ski Trail. Broke that out to the nobby bump where the downhill section starts. Always dicy starting out the descent there as the snow is deep and there isn't much room to turn. This trail actually rode a little better than the Alexandria because I could get some flotation. Also got to practice double-poling on the flats while riding the board. I love the woodsy sections in there on the Kimball.

Really nice afternoon but really cold so I was having some trouble with equipment changeovers. Beautiful woods but no real views today. Always fun to see the many facets of Mt Cardigan.
