Comments
Comments: I had intended to use Slippery Brook Trail for ascent and descent, but botched the junction and didn't realize my mistake until Chandler Gorge. Not wanting to backtrack, I continued on to see how challenging the ledges were. Turns out they're pretty challenging! Substantial ice floes on the lower ledges gave way to thigh-deep pockets of snow further up. The take-away here is that it's possible, but I probably was lucky with conditions. Trail on the ridge was windblown and past the junction with Baldface Knob Trail there were more deep pockets of snow. I used spikes for the duration, but snowshoes for the descent on S.B.T. probably would be the way to go.
