| Comments: |
Wonderful weather today for a nice loop. The Gunstock Mountain Trail was very icy down low with more snow depth at higher elevation, light traction is a must here. There is a significant ice flow near the Winter Shortcut/Ridge Trail junction. Brook and Saddle Trails had more snow cover but not enough to warrant snowshoes just yet. The Blue Trail was probably the only spot I would have wanted snowshoes only to better set up a tread way. The trails were pretty well packed out with minimal post holing. A tracked vehicle had gone up the Green Trail to the communication tower on top of Belknap tearing up the trail pretty badly. Tough to get a good assessment at this point in time but it looks like some water bars will need some repair as well as some pruning where the vehicle tore up some small trees and vegetation. Come spring I will get a better assessment of the damage. |
