Comments
Comments: Cold day...perfect for a visit to the Owl. A couple of inches on new snow obscured the Black Pond whack. We came down a little early and ended up just below the lower crossing of Lincoln Brook. There is not a lot of snow in the valley so there are plenty of wet spots on Lincoln Brook. Brutus has 4 to 6 inches but in places it is ice underneath. I should have brought Hillshounds rather than microspikes. I switched to MSR snowshoes on the descent for better traction. It was apx 5 below on the summit ridge and the trail should be pretty clear.
