Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: There are serious brook crossings on both sides of the loop. Frigid temperatures this week have served to more or less bridge all of them, but care is advised. For the large crossing on Passaconaway Cutoff, we crossed safely upstream from the trail. For the same coming out on Oliverian, we went straight across but I broke through momentarily on the far edge.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trails are in good shape and reasonably easy to follow but in need of blazes.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Arlo did well and was smart about the ice flows and brook crossings.

Comments
Comments: Conditions are excellent and for the most part allowed for a quick pace. There are maybe 2 inches of loose snow over mostly hard pack but also frequent ice flows. Two of us wore microspikes and the third used Hillsound Crampon Pros. Snowshoes would have also worked but would have likely slowed the surprisingly steep descent off the ledge. Beautiful hike with cold temperatures but no wind.
