It was a great day to be out. Given the rain earlier in the week, we expected lots of bare trail and ice flows but were met with what would have been ideal snowshoeing conditions. Having left our shoes behind, we managed fine in spikes and light crampons. All trails are in good shape and easily followed. The final climb to Mt. Paugus is made less steep by excellent switchbacks and yields an outstanding view of Passaconaway, Whiteface, and Square Ledge, to name a few of the westward peaks. |
